2008 Farm Fayre
Macedon Region’s Paramoor Farm Fayre A WINNER
This year’s Paramoor Farm Fayre on Father’s Day, Sunday September 7 will feature more than 50 stalls, folk music, poetry and Morris dancers and carry the theme of Henry Lawson.
The event that started several years ago to raise funds for the local Country Fire Brigade has now become one of the Macedon Region’s major annual attractions and attracts visitors from not only the region, but Melbourne and other parts of Victoria.
This year’s event will be no exception. Following in the tradition of last year, which had Banjo Patterson as its theme, the 2008 Fayre will feature poetry, verse and songs from the works of Henry Lawson.
A highlight of this year’s Fayre will be the presence of TV personality, and doyen of craftwork, Tonia Todman – who will also host a workshop. Tonia operates a school for cooking, craft, interior design and gardening at Lauriston near Kyneton, and is widely known for her exceptional craft work.
There will be more than fifty stalls highlighting local foods and produce from the Daylesford and Macedon Region, which has over many years forged a national reputation for outstanding produce. Daylesford Macedon Produce (DMP) was established in 2002 to nurture, develop and market the growers, winemakers and food producers of the region. There will be a wide selection of DMP produce including meat, vegetables, fruit and herbs, chutneys and preserves, while for the sweet-tooths, there will locally produced biscuits, cakes, and honey.
A wide range of excellent food will be available, whilst Paramoor Winery, which has recently earned four and a half stars from national wine critic James Halliday, will also offer its full range of wines.
Special marquees will host continuous folk music performances and poetry readings throughout the day. The live music, poetry reading, Morris Dancers and jugglers all add to the movement, colour and general excitement of the Fayre.
There will be a great variety of activities for children including face painting and story telling, a quiz following clues around the Fayre, treasure hunt, drawing and painting and plenty more.
Beneficiary of the Fayre is the Carlsruhe Fire Brigade, which - largely because of the Fayre and the money it raises – has been described as one of Victoria’s best-equipped small units.
The Paramoor Farm Fayre is associated with the annual Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival.
Paramoor Farm and Winery is located at 439 Three Chain Road, Carlsruhe (off the Calder Highway between Woodend and Kyneton). (Melways Ref: Map 609 G9, VicRoads Ref: Map 60 A6).
The Fayre will run from 10 am to 4 pm. Entry will be $5 per adult, while children and pensioners will be admitted free of charge. Ample parking. No dogs please.
