Paramoor is set in the heart of the Macedon Ranges, within view of Hanging Rock and only a short drive to the local villages of Woodend and Kyneton. Galleries, restaurants, antique stores and heritage buildings surround, all sharing the charm and elegance of the region.

- The Woodend Bridge, a single span bluestone bridge built in 1862
- Insectarium of Victoria, which features what is alleged to be the world’s largest crayfish and a wide range of insects
- St Mary’s, a bluestone Anglican church with excellent stained-glass windows
- Woodend Berry Farm, where visitors can pick or buy ready-picked blueberries, in January and February
- Braemar College, built at the end of the 1800s (originally Clyde Girls’ Grammar School and believed to have inspired Joan Lindsay’s novel Picnic at Hanging Rock)
- Jack-in-the-Green Primula Nursery, which sells unusual primroses, polyanthus, primula species and rare perennials.
Kyneton
- Annual Daffodil, Country Music and Literature Festivals
- Former home of the early feminist, Caroline Chisholm, who features on Australian banknotes
- Meskills Woolstore, one of the few places in Australia where wool is spun and made into knitwear and garments using antique machinery.
