Syrah 2023

Each vintage presents different challenges and 2023 was no exception. A cooler than average year with rain early on, replaced by clear skies and a glorious warm autumn sunshine allowed for gentle ripening to produce fruit of great intensity and quality. Wild yeast fermented and matured gracefully for 10 months in French Oak.

This wine highlights the exceptional fruit thriving at Colbinabbin Estate on the eastern slopes of the Mt Camel Range. Deep rich Cambrian soils impart a remarkable dark berry complexity and depth to the wine that will age gracefully for at least five to ten years. The label’s parable is a nod to John Lear, the barn’s builder and founder of Paramoor who inscribed the words inside the barn. It captures his whimsical reference for his love for motorcycles, a fondness played out as an officer in the Victorian ‘Silos’ motorcycle unit
